Adhesives Classified by Bond Strength: Structural Adhesives and Non-Structural Adhesives
Structural adhesives can achieve a shear strength of up to 7 MPa for bonded joints. They not only possess sufficient shear strength but also exhibit high uneven peel strength. They can withstand loads such as vibration, fatigue, and impact for an extended period, while also having a certain degree of heat resistance and weather resistance.
Non-structural adhesives have a certain level of strength at relatively low temperatures; however, their bond strength decreases rapidly as the temperature rises. Therefore, this type of adhesive is mainly used for bonding non-critical components or for temporary fixation.
