Silicone structural sealants are being increasingly used in construction. Most silicone structural sealants are named according to their application sites, and corresponding products should be selected based on the site during use. For applications with mechanical requirements and force-bearing needs, structural adhesives are required; while sealants serve the purpose of sealing, mainly for airtightness, water tightness, etc., without the need to bear forces.
In simple terms, structural adhesives bear forces, while sealants play a sealing role. Therefore, structural adhesives can replace sealants under certain conditions, but sealants can never replace structural adhesives.
