Environmental Protection
Solventless lamination uses solventless adhesives, which not only will not volatilize VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) or produce any pungent odor, but also solves the problem of solvent residues in packaging. It eliminates the erosion of organic solvents on printing inks and enables clean production, which is beneficial to environmental protection.
Energy Conservation
Solventless lamination equipment does not require a drying tunnel, reducing energy consumption. Moreover, in the subsequent curing process, the curing temperature of solventless lamination is basically the same as that of dry lamination, so the energy consumption is relatively close as well.
Safety
Since solventless adhesives do not contain organic solvents, there are no potential hazards of fire or explosion during the production, transportation, storage and use processes. There is no need for explosion-proof and thermal insulation measures, nor is there a need for a special warehouse for storing solvents. More importantly, it poses no harm to the physical health of the operating workers.
High Efficiency
The lamination speed using solventless adhesives is generally 250 to 350 meters per minute, and can even reach up to 400 to 500 meters per minute at the highest. In contrast, the lamination speed using solvent-based adhesives is generally 150 to 180 meters per minute, and the lamination speed using water-based adhesives is even lower.
Low Cost
If the annual usage of solventless adhesives is calculated as 20,000 tons, when converted into the usage of solvent-based adhesives, it would be 20,000 ÷ 1.5 × 2.5 = 33,333 tons (1.5g/m² is the average adhesive application amount of solventless adhesives, and 2.5g/m² is the average adhesive application amount of solvent-based adhesives). It can be seen that the solventless lamination process can greatly reduce the usage of adhesives. In addition, for lamination using solventless adhesives, the coating cost per unit area is 0.026 to 0.052 yuan. For lamination using solvent-based adhesives, the coating cost per unit area is 0.052 to 0.104 yuan. And for lamination using water-based adhesives, the coating cost per unit area is 0.076 to 0.090 yuan.
