Glass adhesives are mainly divided into two categories: silicone adhesives and polyurethane adhesives (PU). Silicone adhesives are further divided into acidic adhesives, neutral adhesives, structural adhesives, etc. Polyurethane adhesives are divided into bonding adhesives and sealants.
Acidic silicone adhesive: It is mainly used for the general bonding between glass and other building materials. During the curing process, it absorbs moisture in the air and releases acetic acid gas, which is corrosive to metals. It is not suitable for bonding coated glass, mirrors, metals, and plastics.
Neutral weather-resistant silicone sealant: Its main function is to maintain a sealed state in extreme weather conditions such as ultraviolet rays, acid rain, and snow. It can be used both outdoors and indoors, and has a strong adhesive force on the bonding surface. It is widely used in applications such as dry hanging of stone materials. It is not suitable for bonding on painted surfaces.
Neutral silicone structural adhesive: It has stronger bonding properties than weather-resistant sealant, mainly manifested in tear resistance strength, elongation at break, tensile strength, etc. Relatively speaking, the performance of structural adhesive is the best, and it is more expensive than sealant.
Nail-free adhesive: It is a multi-functional building structural strong adhesive with extremely strong adhesive force. It is commonly called liquid nails abroad and nail-free adhesive in China. It has a wide range of application areas: wood, gypsum board, metal, mirrors, glass, plastics, rubber, baseboards, shutters, door sills, window sills, boundary markers, pillars, junction boxes, various artificial materials, ornamental stoneware, and tiles can be fixed on concrete, brickwork, and plaster. It cannot be used in wet and water-logged areas, and cannot be used for installing mirrors. It can be used for polyvinyl chloride (PVC); but it is not suitable for polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP). It does not have waterproof function and is not suitable for outdoor use.
Polyurethane foam adhesive: Its main functions are foaming, filling gaps, bonding, sealing, heat insulation, and sound absorption. It is mainly used for filling gaps, sealing, and fixing and bonding between doors and windows and walls, as well as for plugging holes. The foam adhesive undergoes a curing reaction with the moisture in the air or in the substrate it comes into contact with to form foam, which adheres to the surface of concrete, coatings, walls, wood, and plastics. Before construction, the floating dust and oil stains on the wall surface should be removed. If the wall is too dry, a little water should be sprayed to ensure that the foam adhesive absorbs enough water and foams properly. The remaining foam adhesive cans should not be discarded randomly. Burning or puncturing the empty cans is prohibited. Keep it away from open flames and do not contact with flammable and explosive items to prevent the explosion of the cans.
Marble adhesive: It is suitable for bonding between various types of stone materials or repairing cracks and broken marks on the surface of stone materials. It is commonly used in various types of paving stone projects and the repair, bonding, positioning, and gap filling of various types of stone materials.
