They can be divided into structural adhesives and non-structural adhesives.
The characteristic of structural adhesives is that they can withstand large stresses regardless of the bonding part they are used for. Under static load conditions, the shear strength of such adhesives can reach 7 MPa, and they also have good uneven peel strength and fatigue strength. Non-structural adhesives cannot bear large loads; in principle, they are used for bonding small parts or as temporary fixation in assembly work.
