The curing reaction of adhesives

Hits: 517 img

The curing reaction of adhesives is a process that achieves and improves properties such as bonding strength through chemical reactions (polymerization, cross-linking). Curing is a crucial process for obtaining good bonding performance, and only complete curing can maximize the strength. Curing is divided into initial curing, basic curing, and post-curing.

01 Initial curing
Under certain temperature conditions, after a period of time, a certain strength is achieved, the surface has hardened and is no longer sticky, but the curing is not yet complete.

02 Basic curing
After another period of time, most of the reactive groups participate in the reaction, reaching a certain degree of cross-linking.

03 Post-curing
It is a treatment performed on the basically cured bonded object to improve the bonding performance or due to the needs of the process. Generally, it is kept at a certain temperature for a period of time, which can supplement curing, further improve the degree of curing, effectively eliminate internal stress, and enhance the bonding strength.

To obtain a well-cured adhesive layer, the curing process must be carried out under appropriate conditions. The curing process of adhesives has a very important impact on the bonding quality, and there are three basic process parameters in curing: temperature, pressure, and time. These three parameters have a great influence on the curing of adhesives.
