At present, the steam pipes of ships mostly use aluminum silicate wrapped with asbestos to achieve thermal insulation. However, due to leakage or condensation water generated by cold-heat alternation, it will accumulate on the outer wall of the steam pipe at the bottom; and the outer wall is severely corroded due to the long-term action of high temperature and soluble salts. Therefore, water glass series adhesives can be used as coating materials on the bottom layer of aluminum silicate to form an enamel-like structure coating. Its thermal expansion coefficient is similar to that of the pipe material, with small thermal stress and no cracking.
In mechanical installation, components are often fixed by bolts. Devices fixed by bolts will produce crevice corrosion when exposed to the air for a long time. During the operation of the machine, the bolts may loosen due to severe vibration sometimes. To solve this problem, the connecting components can be bonded with inorganic adhesives first and then connected with bolts in mechanical installation. This can not only play a role in reinforcement but also have an anti-corrosion effect.
