Transform Traditional Concepts and Strengthen Environmental Protection Awareness
Environmental protection is the key to ensuring the sustainable development of the economy and the healthy survival of humanity. The adhesive industry bears a great responsibility for the impact on the environment, and it is a wise move to take strong measures as early as possible. First of all, traditional concepts need to be transformed. We cannot just focus on immediate local interests while ignoring the damage to the ecological environment; nor can we only care about temporary economic benefits at the expense of the environment. While the adhesive industry pursues economic benefits, it should pay more attention to social and environmental benefits and make new contributions in environmental protection.
Develop Environmentally Friendly Adhesives
In order to avoid environmental pollution and ecological damage, it is imperative to develop low-pollution or pollution-free environmentally friendly adhesives. The so-called environmentally friendly green adhesives refer to adhesives that are to the environment, non-toxic to the human body, and meet the three major requirements of "environmental protection, health, and safety".
To meet the needs of society and environmental protection, the varieties of adhesives should be updated and replaced at an accelerated pace, and environmentally friendly green adhesives should be manufactured. Currently, our main tasks are: to accelerate the promotion of green products such as water-based, hot-melt, solvent-free, UV-curable, high-solid-content, and biodegradable types, and to limit the use of harmful solvents and additives.
Adopt Advanced New Clean Production Processes
New clean production processes can achieve the unity of economic and environmental benefits and produce environmentally friendly adhesives.
-
Abandon the use of methyl methacrylate with a strong odor and replace it with monomers with high boiling points to produce modified acrylate fast-curing structural adhesives.
-
Do not use toxic raw materials during the preparation and production process of adhesives, such as formaldehyde, chlorinated solvents, aromatic hydrocarbon solvents, and fillers containing toxic heavy metals.
-
Carry out production under non-toxic and harmless conditions, such as using paraformaldehyde to replace formaldehyde solution to produce modified amine curing agents.
-
Adding formaldehyde scavengers, such as starch, polyvinyl alcohol, melamine, etc., can significantly reduce the content of free formaldehyde in urea-formaldehyde resin adhesives. Oxidized starch has a better effect than ordinary starch and can make the content of free formaldehyde < 0.1%.
