I. Electronic and Electrical Field
1. Encapsulation of Electronic Components
In the field of electronic component encapsulation, epoxy resin curing agents play a crucial and essential role. Electronic components such as integrated circuits (ICs), transistors, and diodes need to be encapsulated to protect them from the erosion of the external environment and ensure stable performance. Anhydride curing agents, such as phthalic anhydride and maleic anhydride, are often used in this scenario. After reacting with epoxy resin, they can form cured products with good electrical insulation properties, high heat resistance, and mechanical strength. Take IC encapsulation as an example. The epoxy resin encapsulation material cured by an anhydride curing agent can effectively block impurities such as moisture and dust, safeguard the normal operation of the internal circuit of the IC, and at the same time, can withstand a certain amount of heat generated when the electronic component is working, ensuring long-term reliability.
2. Circuit Board Encapsulation
The purpose of circuit board encapsulation is to improve the moisture-proof, dust-proof, and anti-corrosion properties of the circuit board, and enhance its mechanical strength and electrical insulation properties. Aliphatic amine curing agents, such as ethylenediamine and diethylenetriamine, are widely used in circuit board encapsulation due to their fast curing speed and high bonding strength. When mixed with epoxy resin, they can quickly cure to form a hard protective coating, effectively filling the gaps and holes in the circuit board, protecting the electronic circuits, preventing short-circuit faults caused by moisture, dust, etc., and extending the service life of the circuit board. For example, in the circuit board of the automotive electronic control system, the epoxy resin encapsulation material cured by an aliphatic amine curing agent can ensure the stable operation of the circuit board in the complex automotive environment.
II. Coatings and Painting Field
1. Industrial Anti-corrosion Coatings
In the industrial environment, metal equipment is vulnerable to chemical corrosion, atmospheric erosion, etc., which shortens its service life. Epoxy resin anti-corrosion coatings, when used in combination with amine curing agents, such as polyamide curing agents, can form a tough, strongly adhesive, and chemically resistant coating. The polyamide curing agent molecule contains a long aliphatic hydrocarbon chain, which endows the coating with good flexibility and impact resistance. At the same time, after curing with epoxy resin, it can effectively resist the erosion of chemical media such as acids, alkalis, and salts. For example, in the surface painting of storage tanks and pipelines in the petrochemical industry, the anti-corrosion coating of the epoxy resin-polyamide curing agent system can significantly improve the corrosion resistance of the equipment, reduce maintenance costs, and ensure safe production.
2. Floor Coatings
Epoxy resin floor coatings have the advantages of wear resistance, pressure resistance, dust prevention, and easy cleaning, and are widely used in factories, warehouses, parking lots, and other places. In the formula of floor coatings, amine or polyamide curing agents are often used. Amine curing agents have a fast curing speed, which can make the floor coating dry quickly and shorten the construction period; polyamide curing agents can endow the floor with good flexibility and wear resistance. A reasonable combination of the two can adjust the performance of the floor coating according to the needs of different usage scenarios. For example, in the floor construction of heavy-duty industrial plants, appropriately increasing the proportion of amine curing agents can increase the curing speed and hardness to meet the heavy-duty requirements such as frequent forklift operations; while in the floor painting of commercial places, more polyamide curing agents can be used to improve the aesthetics and flexibility of the floor and avoid scratches or cracks caused by people walking or objects moving.
