1. What is chromatic aberration? How to judge?
Simply put, color difference refers to the difference between two colors. We can use a colorimeter to measure the color difference between the sealant sample and the standard sample, which is usually represented by △E (color difference value).
2. Factors affecting color difference
(1) Differences in human eye perception
Under the same △E value, the human eye will experience different colors differently. The lighter the color, the more sensitive the human eye will perceive the difference, especially when the △E value is between 1.5 and 3. Although the standard is met, the subtle differences in light colors can still be detected.
(2)Substrate type
Variegated substrates, reflective substrates, and fluorescent substrates all affect color perception. For example, when sealant is applied to variegated stone, the color felt will be different due to changes in viewing angle and light.
(3) Environmental factors
Weather, light, dust, etc. will all affect the color of the sealant. Over time, the surface gloss of the sealant will change, which may lead to the appearance of color differences between the old and new sealants.
3. Will color difference affect the beauty of the building?
During the sealant production process, color difference is basically unavoidable due to complex physical and chemical reactions. Even if the △E value is ≤3, it may still be detected due to different observation conditions. When first used, if the sealants are from different batches, the color difference will be more obvious. However, after a period of time, the influence of various factors will gradually reduce the differences, thus not significantly affecting the appearance of the building.
4. How to control color difference?
Although it is almost impossible to completely eliminate chromatic aberration, we can control it through reasonable equipment and methods to ensure that the chromatic aberration is within the scope of national standards. Yiheng strictly follows national standards, uses advanced color difference testing equipment, and is committed to providing professional special color sealant solutions. Regardless of complex substrates or harsh external environments, we strive to ensure the high-quality performance and beautiful color of our sealants.
